After an exhausting wedding day on Sunday, Iris and I were beyond drained the morning after, to say the least. Our morning plans were supposed to kick off with a 5:30a.m. wake-up call, followed by exercise, preparation for the day and the anticipation of a delightful breakfast thereafter. However, upon waking, the look in Iris's eyes prompted me to alter our morning plans in pursuit of any morsel of sleep we could accrue. Perfection: Iris was sound asleep. I'll seize any victory whenever it arises.
I must admit, I grappled with a bit of cacophony in my irritation throughout the day during work hours. I had been laboring over a business plan brief, or rather the absence of one, when life inevitably reminded me that control is but a mirage. Despite only engaging with a few podcasts, alongside extensive hard work, the plan brief began to manifest a viable presence, and I found myself marginally content with the result.
After completing our work, Iris and I donned our raincoats and embarked on our customary stroll through the neighborhood. Walks with Iris are simply the best in every way. We discuss everything from life and upcoming schedules to deep relational issues concerning our marriage during those walks. They serve as our therapy and bring us joy.
That evening, after a long, restless day, Iris and I finished our daily Bible studies, followed by a delightful meal: Thai red coconut curry, lovingly prepared by my wife. Such a comforting way to conclude a rather challenging day. With heavy eyelids, we soon drift into a more restful night’s sleep.

A Piece of Science
“An interesting fact about sleep is that the average person falls asleep in about seven minutes. This duration can vary from person to person, but consistently taking less than five minutes to fall asleep might indicate sleep deprivation.” (Source)
A Piece of History
“In the past, people had a segmented sleep pattern, dividing their rest into two parts with a period of wakefulness in between. This practice, known as biphasic or segmented sleep, was common until the late 1600s in Europe and gradually disappeared with the rise of the Industrial Revolution and the advent of electricity, which led to longer working hours and the illumination of nights.” (Source)
